What does a typical day in your part-time job look like?

Opening up the shop and serving customers coffee and food.

What has been the highlight of your job so far?

Working the Students’ Union Christmas dinner shift. It was a very stressful and challenging shift but very rewarding.

What skills have you developed?

My teamwork and communication skills have massively improved since I started working at the SU.

Why did you decide to get a part-time job?

I had thought about getting a job whilst at university for some time, but only acted on this when the right opportunity arose.

How do you juggle working and studying?

I try to limit the number of hours I work per week so if the university workload builds up, I have spare time to utilise.

How have the skills and experience you’ve gained from your part-time job helped you in other areas of your life?

It made my placement search easier as I had a lot of the experience employers were looking for.

What advice would you give to other students thinking about or looking for a part-time job?

If you’ve got the spare time, you have nothing to lose. Having a part-time job whilst at university has given me the financial freedom to make the most out of uni life.
