Settling back into final year

You still remember the nerves you had on your first day on placement and before you know it, its final year. My placement was within Aston University, so settling back in was not too bad, however the transition in becoming a student again took some time. I only had one deadline throughout placement year and first term back, I had deadlines coming up very soon, exams and lectures to prepare for and having to pencil in a social life was rather overwhelming to say the least.

But it is normal. It is all part of the process of being a student, so here are my top 4 tips that helped me ease my way back into being a student and hopefully, it can help you too.

  1. Do not panic! Like I said before, it is normal if you do not settle back in straight away.
  2. Make a timetable! I cannot stress the importance of this, because this visual portrayal of your week or month will keep you on track. By putting down your schedule, you will see what you need to do and will help you in the long run of an organised you. You could even implement a 9 to 5 routine that you had on placement if it makes things easier.
  3. Get social! Meet up with friends and co-workers from placement or plan a trip back to where you undertook your placement.
  4. And finally, embrace final year as it may be the last time you are a student again.

I hope your transition back into uni goes as smoothly as possible!
