Revising for First Year exams over the Christmas break

Your first university exams and deadlines can be quite daunting, so here are my top tips for getting through them which I hope you find useful!

Firstly, the best way to prepare for exams and deadlines is by starting your revision early. If you haven’t done so already, make sure you’re up-to-date with all your course material. If you’re up-to-date and understand it, it’ll make your revision a lot more productive. If you’re struggling with anything, make sure to speak to your lecturers early on so they can help you.

Secondly, get to grips with the assessment criteria. Most modules have past exam papers and model answers, so you can use these to see what you should and shouldn’t do.

Thirdly, when preparing for exams and deadlines, take some time to enjoy yourself and try not to stress too much. You can study with some course mates, find different spaces to work, take regular breaks and treat yourself with something nice every so often. This means you can give yourself something to look forward to and ease the pressure.

Finally, over the Christmas break, get into a routine that works for you with both studying and leisure time. Also make sure you have a nice work environment where you can get your head down.

But don’t forgot, IT’S THE CHRISTMAS BREAK! So, make sure you enjoy yourself. The Christmas break is a nice time to stuff yourself with delicious food, spend time with family and open presents, so make sure you don’t miss out! Balance your hard work with fun and I am sure you will have a productive, but enjoyable, Christmas break.
