The time has come for you to fly the Aston nest *wipes away tears*. We don’t know where the last few years have gone either. However, the good news is that this doesn’t have to be goodbye, because you can still access our services for the next three years (woohoo!). Take a look at how we can continue to support you during the next stage of your journey.
Get up close and personal with our Careers Graduate Team
Who are those guys, we hear you ask? Well, our dedicated Careers Graduate Team are part of Careers+Placements and they will be your main point of contact for your careers-related queries – they’re just itching to get to know you and help you with your next steps.
To find out more about what they do and how they can help you, check out this handy postcard or drop them an email.
Receive 1-to-1 support
You can still book face-to-face (when it’s safe to do so again!), phone and video appointments with our friendly and experienced advisers who can help you:
- Explore your options
- Review your experience and identify all those amazing skills you’ve got stashed up your sleeve
- Polish your CV, refine your applications and perfect your interview technique
- Find vacancies in the UK or abroad
- Research alternative opportunities such as continuing your studies or working for yourself.
Head to Aston Futures to book an appointment with us.
Create a graduate account on Aston Futures
Speaking of Aston Futures, you can still access our online platform. However, your student login details will no longer be valid, so you will need to register for a graduate account using your personal email address.
Once you’re in, complete your profile with your preferences (you’ll get email alerts based on what you answer, so it’s worth spending some time on this) and then you’ll be free to book appointments with the team, register for events and search for graduate opportunities until your heart’s content.
Make use of our online resources
If you’ve not visited our webpages before, then you are in for a treat. There’s more helpful stuff on there than you can shake a stick at – whether you want to know how to perfect your LinkedIn profile, where to look to find work abroad or which employers are LGBTQ+-inclusive, we’ve got your back.
We also have a range of online tools which are available exclusively for Aston students and graduates. These include software that will help you practise your interview technique and get to grips with psychometric testing. These are hosted on a locked page so to access them, simply email email@example.com and a member of the team will help.
If you need more help planning your next steps, don’t forget to download a copy of our Careers Survival Guide – it’s packed full of tips and tricks to help you discover who you are and what you want, decide on the right role, prepare for the recruitment process and more!
Join our LinkedIn group for graduates
To help keep you up-to-date with the latest events and opportunities, we’ve created a graduate careers support LinkedIn group. The aim of this group is to create a community-led support network for recent graduates from Aston University. Head to LinkedIn to submit your request to join – we’ll be waiting for you with open arms.
P.S. if you are or have recently been a postgraduate student at Aston, then you’ll be pleased to hear we have a group just for you too!
Read our blog posts
Now, we might be biased, but we think our blog is great – we’ve got heaps of blog posts on here from students, graduates, employers and careers staff that could support you in all sorts of ways. Whether you want to know what digital resources you could be using right now to stay on top of your job search, how to write a winning cover letter or how to settle into your new job, we’ve got you covered. So make yourself a cuppa, find a comfy spot and get reading!
Explore your further study options
If you don’t want to leave the student life behind just yet, we can help you to understand your postgraduate options.
Thinking about staying here at Aston? That’s amazing! What’s more, as an Aston graduate, you’re entitled to an automatic 20% scholarship as well as a fast-track application process (not bad, if we do say so ourselves). Find out more and take the postgraduate course finder quiz.
Best of luck for the future!
